I grew up in the Bay Area and spent the majority of my childhood summers swimming in the oceans of Hawaii. From a young age, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in Marine Biology and even became SCUBA certified when I was 12 years old. Although I always had a love for the ocean, I did not realize that I would also develop a love for data analysis and coding along the way. I completed my B.S. in Marine Biology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2015, where I worked with oceanographers and marine biologists to build a foundation of coding and research experience. From there, I completed my M.S. of Biology at California State University, Long Beach in 2019, where I studied the movement patterns of groundfish near a wastewater outfall. My future career goal is to help bridge the gap between data science and marine biology, one data set at a time.
